Ukrainian-Belgian Center was opened at PoltNTU

The official delegation headed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine Luke Jacobs included the Deputy of the Eno Province of the Kingdom of Belgium, the President of the Eno Province Development Agency "Eno Development, the Founder of the Eno Poltava Project Gerald Morgat, Responsible for Relations with the Public of the Cabinet of Deputy Gerald Morgat Benois Ashe, the Head of International Projects, the Head of Cooperation Project with the Poltava region Carolyn Dorvno, Director of Department of Economic Development, Trade and Attraction of Investment of Poltava Regional State Administration Ina Ishchenko and Poltava Chamber of Commerce President Volodymyr Oliynyk.

Within the visit a working meeting of the delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium with the Rector of PoltNTU Professor Volodymyr Onyschenko took place where the results and prospects of the University's cooperation with Belgian partners were discussed. The cooperation of Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University with the University of Mons (Belgium) was initiated by PoltNTU Rector Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko during a visit of the official delegation of Poltava region to the province of Eno in 2006, when the first agreement of cooperation between PoltNTU and the University of Mons was signed. There was new development of cooperation with signing of the continuation of the cooperation agreement between PoltNTU and the University of Mons in March 2017.

The delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium took part in the opening of the Ukrainian-Belgian Center, which will become a platform for studying the French language, exchange of experience between the universities of the two countries and familiarization with the culture of Ukraine and Belgium. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine Luke Jacobs and the Rector of PoltNTU, Professor Volodymyr Onyschenko have started the opening ceremony.

- I am very grateful to the Rector of the Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University for his significant personal contribution to the development of cooperation with the Kingdom of Belgium. I am extremely pleased that as an Ambassador I have the honor to open the Ukrainian-Belgian Center at your university. This is a vivid testimony to the development of international cooperation between our states, confirmation of long-standing friendship and a new step in the development of cooperation between the provinces of Eno and the Poltava region, "said Luke Jacobs, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine.

- It is a great honor for the Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University that the distinguished representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium, friends of our university, are present at the opening of the Ukrainian-Belgian Center. During the first visit in 2006 as a part of the official delegation of Poltava region, we met Deputy of  Eno Province Gerald Morgat and Head of the Project of Cooperation with Poltava region "ENO Development" Carolyn Dorinho, who contributed to the formation and development of our cooperation. In an official and at the same time friendly environment Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration Valery Anatolievich Golovko signed a continuation of the agreement of cooperation between the Poltava region and the Eno Province. During this visit, an agreement was signed between PoltNTU and University of Mons and today we have the results of our cooperation. The opening of this center will contribute to the study of the French language by the students of our university, the cultural exchange and study of the Belgian culture, as Ukraine is now steadily stepping into the European educational space. The opening of this center will contribute to Ukraine's entry into the European Union, and thus do everything in its power to develop Ukraine together with our European friends, "noted the rector of PoltNTU Professor Volodymyr Onyschenko.

Belgian colleagues were congratulated by students of PoltNTU. In particular the student of faculty of humanities Nelya Bechkal thanked the representatives of the Belgian Embassy for the continuous cooperation between the universities and the implementation of many joint projects in French.

The Kingdom of Belgium delegation participated in the expanded meeting of the Academic Council of the University, where Rector of PoltNTU presented the university's activities and the results of cooperation with Belgian partners. While discussing the prospects of cooperation, the Ambassador noted that the opening of the Ukrainian-Belgian Center is a new impetus for the development of cooperation between the University and Belgium and the cultural center for the exchange of ideas and projects for the development of both countries. Students shared their impressions of participating in the Ukrainian-Belgian workshop, which PoltNTU conducted in conjunction with the University of Mons in March 2018.

The Kingdom of Belgium delegation got acquainted with the university, visited the Center of Contemporary Art and the National Museum of PoltNTU History, where the distinguished gentleman Ambassador left a memorable entry in the book for University Honorary guests. Also the delegation paid tribute to the prominent theorist of astronautics by putting flowers at the monument to Yuri Kondratyuk, in honor of which the university is named.
